Pretend You Don't See Her by Mary Higgins Clark is a mystery/thriller from one of the greats. We alternate between the point of view from multiple characters.
Lacey is moving up the ladder in Manhattan real estate. While showing a luxury condo, she is witness to a murder and the dying pleas of the victim to give her dead daughter's journal to her father. She is then placed into the witness protection program in Minnesota, until the killer traces her to Minneapolis.
The plot here moves a bit slowly for me. I wasn't fully invested until we got to the 70% mark, when things really started to pick up. And I figured out who the big bad was fairly early.
Lacey was somewhat confusing to me because she would sometimes make really good decisions but other times would do something quite foolish. There were also a ton of characters to keep track of, which was hard to follow at times.
I received a copy of this book to review. All opinions contained herein are my own.

What happens when a young woman is accidentally caught up in a dangerous murder investigation, having merely been in the wrong place at the wrong time? Lacey Farrell, a rising star on the Manhattan real estate scene, is witness to a murder - and to the final words of the victim. The dying woman is convinced her attacker was after her dead daughter's journal, which Lacey gives to the police, but not before making a copy for herself.
Mary Higgins Clark can spin a great suspense story. Loved it.

As the dumbass I am, I didn't know there was an abridged edition of the audiobook and a regular one. So I ended up listening to the abridged first, found the original and ended up listening to that. Not sure why there's an abridged edition since the removal of more than half of these things removed a good chunk of context.
