I mostly enjoyed this book. It was a little triggering for me at the end, and I think that’s affecting my feelings about it. I really enjoyed the writing style and will look for more books by this author.

I'd seen this book over the years but hadn't really been drawn to it. However, I  really enjoyed "Big Summer" by this author which I read pretty recently. Read this as part of a reading challenge I'm doing where the July prompt is "A backlist title by an author you loved", and this is Jennifer Weiner's debut. Consumed on my kindle.

Overall, this book was alright. I did go in with pretty high expectations given how much I enjoyed "Big Summer", and you can definitely see in reading this how she evolved over the years to write something like "Big Summer", but it's definitely an evolution to get there. Loved that this was based in Philadelphia and familiar touchstones, and that the main character is real and flawed and fleshed out. Cons: Am always skeeved out by a positively-painted patient/doctor romantic relationship which this does have. Did not really love how this story wrapped up for the main character.

CW: body image issues/ fatphobia, unintended pregnancy, birth complications, absent parent
