I'm sure I'd have loved this as a child (although that said it definitely doesn't have enough horse action in it for child me). As an adult my favourite part was probably the old half-starved aunt being prescribed champagne... Would read a whole spin off about Simon and his adventures at art school.

A great, classic, gothic children's novel, one of many in a series.

Read for a Fantasy Lit class.

Really charming, a classic fairytale. Written well and warmly.

Excellent writing and storytelling. A j-fic book that doesn’t write down to kids. Really loved the audiobook read by author’s daughter.

I loved reading this book when I was younger, and listening to it this time around was just as enjoyable.

One of my all-time favorites, I've probably read this 20-30 times. Just re-read it last week and fell in love all over again. Great children's book!
