I’m ready to read the next book as soon as I can get my hands on it!

The second book in the Luxe series, Rumors continues after Elizabeth’s death. Set in 1899 Manhattan, Penelope does anything possible to attain the attention of Henry, Elizabeth’s former fiance.

Gossip Girl meets 1899. Godbersen has written excellently to include customs and cultural ways of life of the time while keeping the spark of mystery, gossip and romance alive. I enjoyed the varying povs from the main characters and especially during pivotal scenes in which we get to read from multiple characters. Knowing that there are subsequent books in the series, I feel that each of the main characters have been developed accordingly. I have such a soft spot for Elizabeth in particular!

It’s been about 10 years since I read The Luxe, and I wish I had reread it because I had a hard time getting back into this setting and was missing some smaller points of the plot. Had I done such, I likely would have rated higher.

Rumors would be a good read for someone wanting a young adult historical fiction read with Bridgerton and Gossip Girl vibes including gossip, a little mystery, and dashing young men.

perfect 2nd book to a series like this omg I’ve come to LOVE henry, i think his situation with Diana is genuinely making him a better person omg. Will and Elizabeth broke my heart, i feel like their story almost read like a Shakespearean play with a horrible tragic accident. so sad i hope she finds love again !!!

Absolutely hated Penelope. It was well written, I felt like I had been transported back in time. Loved Elizabeth and Diana

This novel was really good I really enjoyed the novel untill...Will Kellier Lizzy's finally husband was shot and killed because he "kidnapped" Lizzy (how much i wanted to throw this library book across my room, but if i did that i would need to pay a fine for breaking the book). Other then that it was really good and i can't wait to read the next book [b:Envy|3347892|Envy (Luxe, #3)|Anna Godbersen|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327928712s/3347892.jpg|3386279].

What an ending! This soap opera of high society on the cusp of the 20th century just won't let me go! Not that I'm complaining, of course. I love that the female characters are still the most interesting in the book, and that the clothes are described in such detail. Camel capes and pearl gray silk waistcoats -are you kidding me? Divine.

Overall I'm unimpressed with this series as a whole.
