I really enjoyed reading my second Alex Michaelides book. It was a classic thriller, murder mystery that had me guessing and trying to piece together clues. While it's not necessary, I'm so glad I read The Silent Patient first!

I mean similar vibes to the silent patient
However this one felt not as exhilarating
I read a long Reddit article about being HATING on this book but I thought it was fine
But man oh man my guess of “who done it” was WAYYYY off lol he got me there

I loved the Silent Patient so I was so excited to read this one. This absolutely had me hooked the whole way through… I would have given it 5 stars if not for the the ending. It was absolutely ridiculous and way out in left field. It made no sense at all. Honestly just incredibly frustrated and annoyed.

Absolutely loved this book! It was super well written and very intriguing. I definitely didn’t see the plot twists coming and honestly it left me wanting more! Highly recommend if you like mystery!

I was a HUGE fan of the Silent Patient. So, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing characters and settings from that book intertwined a little bit into this one. I'm not sure I was quite as on the edge of my seat with this one, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and following the story while guessing what was going on, since they set up the story to look like there was many suspicious characters. I always enjoy the psychological elements to his books.

This is what The Secret History could have been.

I really wanted to love this book, but it just fell so short for me. The premise was so interesting—very reminiscent of The Secret History by Donna Tartt but with a much smaller focus on the students. The twist was kind of left field and I just feel like in the end, this needed more atmosophere and detail and focus on The Maidens to make this more enjoyable.

SpoilerAlso, there were a few too many characters that felt like they were thrown in as red herrings for the plot vs actually getting development.
