Meeting Everly in the first book of this series, Wrong, I wasn’t sure that I would be able to like her. She was obsessed with her brother’s best friend, also a professor at her college now, and had gone to some dubious lengths to get him to reciprocate her feelings. To put it bluntly, she was a stalker. Although this book is only the author’s sophomore publication, she masterfully turns the tides so Everly can be taken seriously again.

A huge part of Everly’s redemption comes in the way Sawyer put her in her place. He blatantly spells out the things she’s done regarding Finn and confronts her in a way even her friends have not done. Then he pursues Everly in the only way that would work for someone like her. Tenaciously and without apology. These two are truly perfect for each other.

The way this book is crafted in the beginning is genius. Short chapters that were full of information, but just enough to keep me guessing, had me turning pages and diving headfirst into this story. I didn’t want to put it down. The chemistry is wonderful. Everly is unapologetic when it comes to her past sexual exploits and what she likes in that regard. Every time she starts pondering on Sawyer’s past she easily reins herself back in knowing it doesn’t matter what happened in the past. It’s fabulously sex-positive.

While I thoroughly enjoyed that first book, I found great improvement in the author’s writing in this book. The pacing was spot on and, although most of the story is told from Everly’s POV, Sawyer’s intentions and feelings were never a mystery to me. I could feel his emotions just as well as Everly’s without getting his POV. I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in this series as well as other works by this author.
