So I mean knowing about the Comstock act after the fall of roe v wade, it makes sense how racial capitalist patriarchy was organized enough to do the book banning shit

But OMG as a trans woman it helped give me context to my internalized transphobia

I have never felt more understood then I did reading this. I’ve struggled a lot to figure out if I’m asexual, bisexual, and where I fall on the gender spectrum. I’m so thankful to the author for writing this!

“Some people are born in the mountains, while others are born by the sea. Some people are happy to live in the place they were born, while others must make a journey to reach the climate in which they can flourish and grow. Between the ocean and the mountains is a wild forest. That is where I want to make my home.” p. 191

Oh wow. I have a lot of feelings about this one. As the parent of a non-binary kiddo I feel like this gave me some important insights. I also feel like as a human being it helped me be more empathetic to others in general, especially the asexual aspect. I read this on one sitting and think I will go back to it again and re-read, and I’m sure I will get even more out of it. There are passages I just want to highlight and share with the world, that hit me like a punch to the gut and actually made me exclaim out loud in understanding or agreement or amazement. Seriously everyone should read this. Only gripe is it ends kinda suddenly. Maybe there will be a part 2!

I absolutely LOVED this book! Why did I relate so much to Maia's experiences??? Not to even mention how clearly and succinctly e was able to put eir thoughts and feelings (which also happen to be the same thoughts and feelings I've been having) into words. It's so so sooooo relatable. The storytelling, the art style, EVERYTHING. I was on the verge of tears at certain points throughout the story and I would've definitely cried if I wasn't in public surrounded by people 😂 Either way, I really loved this book and I plan to reread it at some point so I can take notes of all the books, media and concepts that e mentioned. Would recommend to just about anyone who's interested tbh lmao
