The banter between Rowan and Sloan was so good and I loved how it was written from both their perspectives so the build-up felt more fulfilling because you could see how both of them felt the same way but kept holding back.
Such a fun book and definitely recommend to anyone who isn't afraid of some graphic violence and sex!! I'm excited to dive into the second book soon but I need a bit of a breather after the last 100 pages of this one 😮💨

— fast-paced, dual pov
tropes: rivals to lovers, friends to lovers, touch her & you d!e, possessive mmc
“every time i think of her, my heart reminds me i’m not as dead on the inside as i thought after all.”
a book about two serial killers who got into a friendly game and whoever kills the victim first wins? i am here for it! the story follows rowan and sloane, two rival murderers who specialize in killing serial killers, who later participate in an annual competition where they race to kill various villain in different locations. from there, they develop an unlikely, slow-burn romance.
first of all, i was looking for a romance book about two serial killers for quite some time, so when i saw this book on tiktok, i immediately dive into it. and it did not disappoint me. the plot is great and i got invested right after reading the first chapter. i like the main characters’ first encounter. and their never-ending banters made this book more entertaining. even though this book’s a dark romance, there are lots of parts that made me giggle and laugh so hard. the mmc’s effortless flirting was also too much for me. one more thing i like about it are the cute text messages the main leads send whenever they are away from each other. but if you’re not a fan of reading gore, bloody romance, please do not read this book because the way the author described how the main leads unalive their victims are so detailed and insane.
to be honest, there were some dull moments which made me pause from time to time, and the push-pull in their relationship stressed me out so much. it actually took me a couple of days to finish it, but i did enjoy it. overall, this is a good read after being in a major reading slump for weeks, and i am looking forward to reading more serial killer romance books like this.
