“Perception is reality, Patrick. No one understands this better than an influencer.” This was a by the numbers thriller with not a lot to differentiate it from so many other books. One of the main characters is a Social Media Influencer and since I can’t think of anything more worthless in the history of mankind that put me off. The mystery was somewhat obvious, there was just one piece I didn’t get early on, and so it never got as thrilling as I wanted it to be. Meh in every way.

Was this the best book I’ve ever read? No. But I really enjoyed the story. The twist caught my by surprise. There are definitely some questionable details in this book but it was pretty fast paced and fun

When trying to come up with something good to say about this book the only thing that came to mind was "I was able to finish with minimal skimming." On the same note, I didn't hate it to the point that I had a laundry list of bad things to write about the book either. The only thing that came to mind after really thinking about the book was that the characters are one dimensional, flat, and all not likeable.

This book never really made me feel anything. The only real feeling I can say that I had was that I spent most of my time reading this book looking forward to finishing it so I could move on to a better book.

I love it when a book completely proves me wrong. I went into this book and started reading it really feeling like it was lackluster. This was simply a case of me truly not giving it a chance. This book takes off pretty quickly when you hit the second or third chapter and it’s the husband and you know he’s lying. Alex is very much a carbon copy of all the social media influencers you see on Instagram with their painfully pristine white cabinets, perfectly laid throw blankets, and impressively dressed children. Included in this novel of suspense was a stark reminder why putting so much of your personal life on social media is not only self-absorbed, but unsafe. Alex’s decision to publicize so much of her life was a huge issue for her daughters and her husband. In an instant Alex goes from being admired instalebrity to a hated fraud when a hateful post is made on her account that she swears she didn’t make. In the midst of this post, her assistant is missing, and someone is trying to ruin her life. Things keep being leaked about her family, doctored voice recordings and pictures, a dead body turns up, and there’s a secret and an affair that aren’t adding up. This book takes us on a journey of the bad side of social media, the lies we tell to protect the ones we love, and how nothing, absolutely nothing is what you think. Another stellar book by Kimberly Belle. Thank you to netgalley and Harlequin for this ARC!

My Review… ✨

this book had me up and down throughout The whole thing at some moments I loved it, at some moments I was frustrated by it. It was definitely a popcorn thriller in the aspect that it had me flipping through the pages and was on the simpler side of writing.
The mystery elements to the book, and the fact that for 80% of the book I was so confused and not sure where the author was going are definitely the reasons why It got four stars.
The ending was the only part they killed me, I felt as if the ending was sort of rushed. And I’m also not the biggest fan of the bad guy spilling his guts at the very last minute.
The social media aspect and how it affects everyone was interesting.
I like how I was guessing the whole time and had no idea how it was going to end.

My Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

My Thoughts
The suspense builds with each turn of the page, keeping you on the edge of your seat as you race to uncover the truth. Belle masterfully plants twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end, culminating in an explosive finale that will leave you stunned. As a first time reader of Kimberly Belle’s, I was impressed with her ability to grab my attention and keep me engrossed from cover to cover. I am giving this book a solid 5 out of 5 stars, and I highly recommend it, especially to those psychological and domestic thriller fans. I will definitely check out more of Kimberly Belle’s work. She’s definitely an author I need to read more of.

Kimberly Belle has written another great story. It is entertaining and makes you want to keep reading. The book is told from Alex and her family and AC, Alex’s assistant. Alex is a huge social media influencer whose influence is crushed by a viral post where she trashes another big social media personality. Alex and her family are targeted and afraid for their lives. I loved how this book let you put seemingly unrelated pieces together.

I love the authors very visual writing style. I could picture the story playing out in front of me. I highly recommend this wonderfully thrilling book!
