True to the source material with plenty of nods to the original series. The mystery itself is pretty good, though the pace is a bit slow and the clues to whodunnit a bit heavy handed.

This was definitely a page turner, however I was extremely disturbed when the reveal of the House of Silk came. I did not feel that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has ever gone that dark before. If I had known ahead of time that there would be child rape in the book, I would not have read it.
