I received an e-book from Arvyn and Anvil Publishing in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much!

Heartbreak and Magic is true to its name since these short stories are truly heartbreaking and magical. Interestingly written, the book offers a different types of magically heartbreaking stories that will truly affect you in one way or another.

This collection is composed of eight (8) stories. My favorite is The Flicker (5 stars). I can't come up with good adjectives to describe how insane and brutal this story was. Next is The Sugilanon of Epefania's Heartbreak (4 stars) which is astonishing and sad at same time. I also like the Pepe Report (4 stars) which makes me think that the title has a double meaning. But, really, it was intriguing and open a lot of questions to my mind.

The other short stories are confusing and weird. Especially The Tragedy of Chicken (3 stars) which is a bit funny story of love, chicken, and the love for chicken. The connection between chickens and sex/orgasm is trivial and uncanny, for me.

The Last Days of Magic (3 stars), however, is a quick and formulaic story of loss and found, this time with magic as a metaphor of arts, music, baking, and the simple wonders of life. Anyway, it is a well-written short story and serves as a reminder to value and treasure the magic within us, within our soul.

Everything considered, Heartbreak and Magic is a great collection that express a weird but important message.
