I used to read these all the time when I was younger and I made it my personal mission to find them in second-hand stores. I wanted to collect them all, but sadly I never managed this.

Almost a decade on, some new versions of these came into my library and I needed an easy read. I wanted to see if these would hold up as well as I remember.

Well, heck. I did not expect to be so pleasantly surprised by this! These books are marked for Junior but they tackle some big issues - friendship and growing up, divorce, remarriage, broken families, parent/child issues, siblings and step siblings, moving, coming of age. Yet they're not a quick read and actually paced really well. You'd think this would be light on the content coming in at only 150 pages, but Martin manages to give you a short summary where you need it and a longer description when required.

The world-building is actually really good too, and there's characters that all kids can identify with. It's great having such a wide array of girls. I remember loving different ones when I was a kid, feeling connected to several of the girls. This series is done so well and it's great for readers who just power through as there's so many books in the series. You can easily check for content as a parent since the books are so short. Highly recommend.

I’m sad because this is the last Elle Fanning read audiobook of BSC and I’ve really enjoyed revisiting the series this way.

When I was a kid, this one was one of my favorites and I read it over and over again. I love Dawn and her mom and their old farmhouse with the barn. I love the second chance romance between Dawn’s mom and Mary Anne’s dad. I love the conflict with Kristy’s jealousy of Dawn’s close friendship with Mary Anne. And the drama surrounding the Barrett family was compelling and emotional. I especially love how Dawn doesn’t let Buddy play make believe guns around her. Dawn is the best!

We're finally getting to know Dawn! She's super healthy and very mature, compared to the rest of the group. I enjoyed reading about Dawn and Mary Anne watching there parents, who have recently started dating. I enjoyed all the CRAZINESS with Dawn and the Barrett family. However, watching Kristy act out of jealous of Dawn's new friendship with Mary Anne was annoying.

Dawn Schafer, the newest member of the Baby-Sitters Club, is having trouble with their newest charges: the Barrett family. Mrs. Barrett is incredibly disorganized, and Dawn finds herself in tricky situations because of Mrs. Barrett's miscommunication and mistakes. When Buddy Barrett goes missing, Dawn must try everything she knows to find him.

Dawn babysits for this crazy bitch who won’t keep her house or her kids clean. Kristy is rude as shit to Dawn even when she just tries to be her friend. Then there’s a whole scene where everyone plays in the barn and listen, this sounds dangerous. “Impossible three”? More like “impossibly bad parenting skills.”
