At this point I don't even know what to write in my reviews for a Penny Reid book anymore. I imagine you won't be surprised to know that I think it's perfection, right? If I tell you that Martin and Katy are the smart and kind and just different from your average new adult characters would you be surprised?

I know that Penny worries about stepping out of her wheelhouse and writing something a little different than her KiTC series but, seriously, she rocked this whole new adult venture.
Martin Sandeke is kind of a jerk except for when it really counts. Katy reminds me of a younger version of Janey from NSH but she's still unique in her own right. Together they are kind of amazing.

This is where I was going to say that my favorite part of this series is the honesty and openness between Katy and Martin and how their problems don't stem from silly misunderstandings, but when I really stop to think about it, that's not entirely true. Yet, somehow the way they deal with those misunderstanding is where this book differs from most in the genre. They deal with their mistakes in a mature way that you don't often see in these type of romances. It's just refreshing to read this kind of maturity in a NA romance.

I have been waiting for Katy & Martin's story since we first met them in the Breakaway anthology and each new book in this series I fell more in love with both of them. I've been dying to see what happened after Heat. This series couldn't have wrapped up in a more perfect way, I love everything about it. This is a definite must read for anyone who enjoys a thoughtful, sexy and heartfelt romance.

I loved the little details in this book that came together to form the story. The cookies, closets, weekly phone/skype conference family calls, nerdy shirts, and sidekick talk! "And also because his arms around me were like chocolate chip cookies for my soul." I really don't know if I could put this on my funny books, but there were definitely humorous times throughout the series!

"Love, I decided, is being a sidekick." - I love it when books lead up to having a "you wouldn't get it if you haven't been involved with these characters and story moment"... kind of like an inner circle. I really loved Penny Reid's writing and look forward to reading more.

These stories are great quick reads. The first story flies by, and then by the time you are through with the second book, you are purchasing the third book. I had to put the third book down due to sleep and work, but I was just as enthralled with the story when I got back home to reading. Awesome!

Honestly, this was my least favorite book in the series. For a person who seemed to just say whatever she wanted to, Kaitlyn Parker “Parker” was decidedly reticent in this installment. Her decision to be tightlipped couldn’t have come at a worse time and so much of this book showcased a miserable Parker and a weird acting Martin Sandeke “Sandeke”.

This book spanned 9 months after Parker and Sandeke’s break up and how both characters tried to put their lives back together. Parker’s route involved her trying to do things that made her happy and attempting to take a little risk. She was doing okay until Sandeke shows up wanting to resume the friendship she had promised him that he would always have.

This last book dragged a bit as Parker was trying to find her footing with the robot impersonating as her mother and cowardly lion masquerading as her father. Parker was a stronger character in the prior books but she was quite obtuse in this one. This 3rd book lacked the humor and fast pace that the prior books had, but it was still an enjoyable end once the veil was lifted. I was very pleased with the end even though I found it anticlimactic.

*Special thanks to Tantor Audio for the audiobook, which was given in exchange for an honest review

I think this was the best of the three books in this trilogy. 3-3.5 stars. It’s a new adult romance and this edition is more of a second change romance, which normally is not my thing. Had a fun time though.

After 9 months apart Kaitlyn and Martin are back together ... sort of. Kaitlyn wants to salvage a friendship from the wreckage of their failed relationship which is why she has agreed to spend the week leading up to Christmas sharing his Manhattan apartment.

For his part, Martin is as enigmatic as ever and Kaitlyn can't figure out where things stand between them or even if he is single.

Capture is the final instalment of Penny Reid's Elements of Chemistry series. While it's great I think the first two in the series are stronger. It felt like Capture dragged a little in parts and there were one or two things I wanted which I didn't get
SpoilerMartin's father to get his comeuppance and Martin to meet Kaitlyn's parents.

Having said that this series is Penny Reid trying her hand at New Adult and I'm not a great fan of the genre. I think all New Adult books are too angsty and drag on. I will say that this series is well and truly at the top of the very small pile of New Adult books I've read.

Maybe love, at its essence, is being a mirror for another person—for the good parts and the bad. Perhaps love is simply finding that one person who sees you clearly, cares for you deeply, challenges you and supports you, and subsequently helps you see and be your true self.

I know a lot of people went crazy with how the second part ended and no sneak-peak was given at all since I am one of them. Actually, when Penny Reid warned the readers about it, I purposely held off reading the second part until the third part was out. Fortunately, I was given an ARC.

It took me some time to finally get on writing a review because the book hangover I got from this book hit me so hard I couldn't read anything for days. Yeah, I accepted that I wouldn't be able to finish my reading challenge this month. *sniff, sniff* Even now, I still couldn't accept the fact that the time when we get to see what's happening in their lives is over. No. I want to see them get married. I want to see Martin propose. I want to see Kaitlyn get preggers and most of all, I want to see Martin as a dad. Thinking about it just makes me cry.

If you read the previous part, you'd know that our lovely couple broke up because of family circumstances. Kaitlyn tried to move on but it was hard. On the bright side, she finally pursued her passion. Months after their break up, Martin entered Kaitlyn's life again and they attempted to be friends again. But Kaitlyn couldn't find it in herself to be friends with him again. She'd always want more from him but it seemed like Martin was seeing another girl.

It wass times like this that I wished that Penny Reid wrote this with dual POVs. It was not like it wasn't enough for me to know what Kaitlyn's thoughts were. I just wanted to know what was on Martin's mind the whole time.

Penny Reid outdid herself this time. She managed to create a very tangible character with Kaitlyn. You could feel her emotions grip you. Her heartbreak, her attempt in moving on, her hopes of getting back together with Martin, her giddiness when all was finally well.

A part of me wants to say that it was a great way to end a very wonderful story but a bigger part of me is still reluctant to acknowledge that it has ended. It's not that Capture ended abruptly or anything, I really didn't want to say goodbye to K and M yet.

By the way, Capture is my book of the month this May.
