I’m not sure what’s scarier: knowing how horrific pregnancy and childbirth actually are or how little we actually know about those things or the female body generally or how terribly doctors treat women or the body horror of this book

This book explores what it's like if everything that can go wrong during pregnancy, does go wrong. Or might be going wrong. The pull between a woman's intuition about her body and the gaslighting or pure lack of understanding from people around her. It takes all the normal fears and symptoms and heightens them, embellishes them, dismisses them.

The book moved rather slowly and felt so convoluted until I figured a few things out, and had the rest explained at the end. I think it could've been tightened up a bit but the story itself was interesting. I've never been pregnant or "desperate" for a baby so I couldn't really relate to Anna (I'm also not a privileged actor), but the feeling of isolation, the rage at dismissal from men, the frustration that the medical establishment has so drastically understudied women's bodies, was deeply familiar. And that compelled me through.

I wish the audiobook version I read had the author's note at the end that others seem to have appreciated!

I’ve heard a lot of mix things about this book, but I believe it’s worth reading. It’s absolutely insane and twisted and you don’t know what to believe with Anna but then you can’t help but sympathize for her. It’s honestly sick and twisted and I loved it, it was such a rush and I couldn’t stop reading it!!!! Also don’t be desperate, something will hear you…..;)

Creepy as hell! And definite triggers for those that struggle with fertility. I didn't know what to expect. I've heard it's the inspiration for an AHS season. I haven't caught up on AHS. I loved this book. It was creepy, insane, and edge of my seat the entire book! I didn't know what was going to happen next. There were twists and turns in places that I didn't expect it. The characters are fleshed out and vivid. I felt so bad for Anna! She went through so much and kept going through it because of a crazy stalker. It's terrifying to think of what one person is capable of. I wish I had waited to read this for October! Perfection! And I've heard the audiobook is even better.
