A quick, accessible intro to the history around the Golden Age of Piracy. Being something of a survey, it can't give enough detail into any one event or figure to satisfy all curiosity, but it's got a lot of great leads to follow up on. Unavoidably deals with a lot of extremely dark subjects; while I especially appreciated the contextualization of the British naval culture, it's got some serious nightmare fuel there. Easy reading style-wise, and love having the bibliography!
Graphic: Child abuse, Child death, Genocide, Gore, Gun violence, Physical abuse, Racism, Rape, Slavery, Violence, Excrement, and Kidnapping
