Things are brewing in this book and I cannot WAIT to see what happens in the next book! This one ended with a bit of a cliffhanger. The humans on the 14 planets are getting a bit of representation from the powers that be. A delegation has been sent to check on the human inhabitants and see how they are faring since being "dropped off" 100 years ago. Not sure how that report is going to make it back to HQ when the leader of the mission is staying behind...

Kyra (h), a special delegate from the Cosmic Coalition, arrives on the Fourteen Planets of Leander to investigate the conditions of human refugees. Duncayn (H), the Vissigroth of Marsh, comes to the rescue when Kyra is in danger and finds himself intrigued by her. He agrees to help Kyra meet Susserayn Kennenryn, though he and others have become discontent with Kennenryn's rule and demands. As the journey together, Duncayn feels a strong physical and sexual attraction to Kyra, as well as a growing emotional connection. The sexual encounters Kyra shares with Duncayn are nothing like the machine pleasures her kind has come to use. Duncayn and Kyra learn much about one another’s cultures and realize that neither is what they’ve been previously led to believe. Lots of action and adventure, danger, intrigue, betrayals and more as the plans of Kennenryn and the Cosmic Coalition come to light. Plenty of hot and steamy action to in this alien-human fated mates romance.

I quite liked getting to continue in the world this author created. It feels like you wouldn't have to have read the previous one to understand this one. But I like getting to see how the stories connect. I loved the action in this plot. Made it more of an adventure than many books out there. There characters have a fiery relationship that is also so sweet. Lovely book!.

Myccael, the male alien lead, has been a background character undergoing significant character development through this series. Now he steps into the limelight, desperately trying to atone for previous missteps, even though others have forgiven him. Picked up by a dragon he believes is or represents his primary male god towards the end of the previous story in the series, he is borne away to the wilderness where the dragon breathes blue fire on him and he is left writhing in agony.

Oksana, the female human lead, has been kept isolated from all but her blood family by her father all her life. He used to make the trip to town but claimed it was too far away to take the family, leaving for weeks at a time. Now her mother and brothers are dead and her father is a drunkard who hits her so she mostly lives in the forest around her family home. Seeing the dragon overhead, she chases it to see what it’s doing there. When she finds Myccael, she is irresistibly drawn to him and cares for him whilst he heals.

Myccael is similarly drawn to her. But he feels the pull of destiny and he’s sure the dragon chose him for a reason and purpose. Oksana is determined to accompany him.

They do have allies and family but there’s a host of others out to stop them and harm or kill them, if necessary…

This story is dual POV, well written, and extremely fast-paced, action-filled, fantasy romance. There was a far greater emphasis on spirituality and magic in this story compared to the others in the series, though I appreciated how the loose ends from previous stories were tied up in this one - this story really doesn’t stand alone. I enjoyed Myccael’s dedication to both his cause and Oksana, and his determination to have both. I especially appreciated his explicit commitment to Oksana, even if that meant he’d need to sacrifice. I enjoyed Oksana’s naïveté and the speed with which she learned contrasted with her certainty of herself and Myccael’s place in the world. I appreciated that Myccael leant on her moral support to achieve his goals. I enjoyed their intimate scenes. I enjoyed the secondary character integration and the genuine contribution of secondary characters to the story.

Kyra, the female human lead, has been sent, as a team leader, to check on the humans that were sent to Leander a century ago. Duncayn, the male alien lead, sees Kyra and her group in difficulty and assists them, advising that the Leander emperor has decided to ignore the diplomatic excursion.

Duncayn is attempting to clarify how many of his fellow planet leaders want their emperor removed and assisting Kyra provides him a reason for moving between planets. Whilst they explore worlds, their relationship grows.

When the emperor makes a preemptive move, Kyra’s bosses try to keep her from helping him and the other planetary leaders because it suits them politically. Now Kyra needs to help him.

This story is dual POV, well written, and an erotic romance with an interesting plot. I enjoyed Kyra’s growing awareness of the nature of the politics she didn’t realise she worked in. I enjoyed and was amused by Duncayn’s grudging attraction to Kyra and his care for her and her colleagues. I enjoyed the erotic intimate scenes and relationship development. I enjoyed the plot and the continuation from previous stories. I really enjoyed the set up for the next story in the series. I enjoyed the resolution for Duncayn and Kyra.
