This felt very much like a classic romance book compared to literally everything else Alessandra cooked - not that that's a bad thing
His greatest desire
Eeek! I love the Calluvia series and have wanted Castien’s story since we met him. He is an ideal antihero: hard to like and yet there’s something about him that sneaks his way into your heart and soul and won’t let go. “You’re a terrible person... I guess I’m a terrible person, too, for loving you anyway.” Sarcastic, sweet and passionate Eridan is his perfect match. He unlocks a part of Castien that makes you swoon and leaves you feeling tingly all over. They need each other, albeit in very different ways, and their connection is all the more potent, thrilling, and powerful for it. Calluvia—and this series—is masterful and fantastic. Once I visit, I never want to leave.

This is one of Hazard's best books. Because of the pandemic and the ugly head of racial injustice showing itself, I was going through a reading "dry spell." I usually read several books a month, but I couldn't even focus on 1 book in 2 months! However, when I picked up Prince's Master, I devoured it in one night! I'm back, so thank you, Hazard, for bring some light during these difficult times and also making me feel more like myself.
Anyways...
The only criticism I would give is that there were too many descriptions about Castien's jaw. Since he was such a reserved character, the reader had to look for other tells in order to figure out his emotions. I would have liked to have seen more diversity in his descriptions. But that was very minor! Overall, fabulous book!

The chemistry between Castien and Eridan was scorching! I loved that there was time dedicated to build their relationship before it turned physical. They didn't have sex until half way into the book, and the wait was worth it! I loved that we waited until Eridan was a little older before starting a romantic relationship with a much older partner. Castien was awesome, and Eridan was such a lovable little brat. The only criticism I would give is that there were too many descriptions about Castien's jaw. I struggled with this one a little bit. It's not my favorite in the series. I think part of that was I expected even more sass from Eridan when it came to his Master after the little we saw of him in the the last book. But, really most of it is, for me, the relationship was problematic from the start. Power structure imbalance, and the fact that Eridan feels REALLY young throughout this entire story is a big part of it. I also really wanted to see Castien warm up more than he really did. There's only a tiny piece of the ending that I felt like ok maybe Eridan and Castien could have a happy relationship, but it still felt a little manipulated.
Still I'm looking forward to Warrehn's book. I just going to knock this one up to the fact that it hit a couple of tropes that aren't my favorite as I've loved the rest of this series and the author's other works.

January 2023. Enemies to lovers MM romance between space telepaths. I enjoyed this quite a bit, the political and society elements were pretty fun and interesting. Quite a few mature scenes.
Overlaps with other books in the series, each are a standalone about a couple of space telepaths that are nobility. Read on Kindle Unlimited.
“Prince’s Master” by Alessandra Hazard.

I wasnt a big fan of Castien in this one. He was too stoic. I know he was supposed to be that way and a lot of the time her was faking it to hide his feelings. But it made him boring and he didnt add a lot to the book. Also I thought that it ended way too abruptly. I expected them to address what life would be like for them after. Did Castien push Eridan ahead to Master Acolyte to make their relationship accepted? We are not told. Considering the rules of Hronthar were used as the main excuse for why Castien and Eridan could not be together for most of the book I am surprised that this was never explained.
I did finish this, but I'm wondering if it is the trope that is throwing me off? A teacher/student relationship (power imbalance) couple is never my cup of tea, however, I found this to be exceptionally messy.
For most of the book, Eri was seemingly stuck in an unrequited obsession, and I never quite bridged the gap of understanding why he felt that way, aside from a type of Stockholm syndrome or emotionally clinging to the one person he had. The ml was obviously supposed to be emotionless and ice cold, however because of that I had a hard time seeing much chemistry, and not having a ML POV really damaged my opinion of their relationship. Also, the memory wipe plot device, and then the quick turn around, infuriated me! I was hoping for healing, with them falling in love again, in a less toxic way, with an equal power between them. But nope.
At the end, I was happy for them, but I felt like I needed so much more than one chapter with them not being tortured.
