What to expect:
🌆Same genre
🌆detective meets psychologist when he’s a suspect for murder
🌆dog dad
🌆foster family with healthy & positive relationships
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Kit is devoted to finding justice for victims in honor of her sister. Sam is trying to balance the ethics of his job while keeping the public safe. This book was full of likeable characters, dogs, heartwarming moments and I absolutely adored it!!! I’m going to have to re-read Cheater sometime because I have no doubt I would have been more invested if I had more background.

I really enjoyed this even though I'd read the second book in the series first so I knew
Sam was a 'good guy'
. It flowed well making it quick to read & it did keep me guessing until the final third. I look forward to the third in the series coming out next year.

'Who said you were unfeeling?'
'Sam. I mean Dr. Reeves.' She'd started thinking of him as Sam in her mind, and that was not okay.
'Who is he?'
Kind. Sincere. Forgiving. In pain. 'My CI.'

This whole book was a thorough crime/murder investigation which was pleasantly surprising and not what I initially expected from this. I started reading Cold Blooded Liar hoping for romance with mystery alongside of it, but a whole ass investigation explaining every single detail and thought that the characters have about it, while the romance was happening subtly in the background, was not what I anticipated at all. But I liked it. Nevertheless I would've wished for some more romance in here but I bet and hope that Karen Rose will make it happen in the next part of this series.

Honestly tho, most of the time I wasn't really sure if I'll read the second book. But the likeable and well written characters and story really grew on me the more pages I read and now I'm pretty sure I want to know how Sam's and Kit's story will go on.
Karen Rose: you got my money.

A million stars.
***************

I am so glad to have a new KR book on my read shelf! She is one of my absolute favourite authors and every book is fantastic. This new one is no exception. I read it over a few days and just couldn't put it down. I think this is one of the best ones for a couple of years - which is saying something, because her last few were amazing too!

I generally just gush about how much I love KR and her universe when I review her books, so I will keep it short and sweet :

Kit is a police officer, drawn to the force to avenge the death of her Foster sister Wren. Sam is a psychologist with a pathological liar as a patient and has a moral dilemma as to his reporting duties. Their paths cross and a serial killer is identified. Can they catch him before he destroys any more lives?...

Well we pretty much know that we'll get a good ending, with some romance and danger thrown in. The bad guys always lose, but how many good guys will we lose along the way? Kit and Sam are really interesting characters and I'm intrigued to see where KR goes next with them. Ultimately I guess we'll find out more about Wren and her disappearance/murder.

So overall a fab book, a new sub series, a plethora of new characters and a subtle romance to see develop!

Recommended 1,000%.
