Generally nearly poetic writing about politics, I found myself highlighting so many sentences to refer to in the future as guiding principles when making decisions and analyzing situations. I would have loved to hear more examples or ideas regarding how to incorporate constructive politics into movement building.

I hate rating this book so low as I should have agreed with it politically, but I found it a weird incoherent read/argument.

Succinct, focused, and well argued. Also I appreciate how it doesn't just identify a problem but also proposes solutions

Well worded call to collective and constructive action. Wonderfully concise. Explains clearly why deference and identity politics are not good enough against institutions of power

Listened. This shit is dense. But highly informative. I have this in print and probably would have enjoyed it more if I read a physical copy. But it’s also been on my bookshelf over a year. But even so, I think this book has some super important stuff. explains some deeply prevalent social phenomena.

This accessible diagnosis of the social phenomenon of elite capture builds to a persuasive argument for a more constructive approach to coalition-building. “A constructive political culture,” Táíwò explains, “would focus on outcome over process—the pursuit of specific goals or end results rather than avoiding ‘complicity’ in injustice or promoting purely moral or aesthetic principles.”

A little over my head right now, but a good starting point to expand my vocab surrounding differential politics
