I really enjoyed this book. Once i hit chapter 10 i think i read the rest in one sitting i started the day with chapter 5 and would take breaks but then i hit 10 and i just had to keep reading. I really enjoyed seeing everything come full circle for the ending and I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

This book starts really well, intriguing from the off. The author gave good introductions to the characters and it flowed really well.

The story pulls you in carefully and unknowingly and you just want to keep reading to find out what happens next.

This is definitely worth reading.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and BookSirens for gifting me this arc in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Thanks to NetGalley and Level Best Books for letting me read this book prior to its publication. My opinion is 100% honest, unbiased, and my own. Also, thanks to the author, Lori Duffy Foster, for reaching out to me via my blog.

I really liked the premise for this book and I got into the story quite quickly, which is not something that it happens to me very often. It was gripping, the pace was fast, and things kept happening which made the plot progress fast. The characters were well fleshed out, with proper backgrounds and all a reader needs to feel some sort of connection with them.

So I was really enjoying this book, and then it got a bit predictable, and when I can guess what is going to happen and then it happens... well, I feel disappointed. I like being guessing up to the very end. The ending, that's another issue. It happened too fast and everything seemed to be quite convenient.

Ups and downs in a book that, overall, has been entertaining and enjoyable. A good book for a weekend of relax.

A good fast paced, murder mystery read! When you know someone, you know someone whether it has been just a few weeks, months or years. Lisa Jamison has worked hard to make a better life for her daughter and herself. She was a teenage mother and now that her daughter is that age- fear of her daughter heading down the same path is on her mind constantly and it's causing a rift between them. Meanwhile, her ex-boyfriend has been murdered and the police are chalking it up to a drug killing but Lisa knows that is impossible. It may have been sixteen years, but she knew Marty and he would never get wrapped up in drugs. As Lisa decides to investigate on her own, she quickly finds out who she can trust, and who she needs to look into further meanwhile, she is struggling to fix things with her daughter and whether to tell her the secret she has kept all these years. I really enjoyed this novel, and look forward to more in this series. Thank you to the author for sending me a free copy of her novel!

This is an awesome debut thriller. It is compelling and well-written. From the characters to the plot, I found myself drawn in and could not put this one down!

I love books with strong female leads and this one does not disappoint. Crime reporter Lisa Jamison's tenacity for the truth drives her to find out who killed her former boyfriend and father of her child despite the fact that someone is trying to silence her.

I love the Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell and have been missing these types of novels. So glad to see another author with the same style. Definitely adding Lori Duffy Foster to my "auto-buy" author list!

I got a copy of this for free.

Lisa, a journalist and a single mom investigates a dangerous case when the father of her daughter is murdered. Who can she trust?
I thought the story was a little predictable, but still good. It's a nice and quick casual read.

I was intrigued when I read the plot for A Dead Man’s Eyes. A reporter shows up at the city morgue to view the body of a man she hadn’t seen in 16 years. That man is her ex-boyfriend and the father of her 15-year-old daughter. When told that his death was drug-related, she refuses to believe it. That starts her down a path where she soon finds that trusting the wrong people will kill her and the people she loves. Can she find out why he was killed?

A Dead Man’s Eyes is the first book in the Lisa Jamison series. Since it is the first book in a series, readers can read it as a standalone.

A Dead Man’s Eyes does get off to a somewhat slow start and stays medium pace until a little past halfway through the book. Don’t let the slow start and the pacing fool you; the author packs a lot into those chapters. Once Lisa watches the DVD, and the incident happens at the animal clinic, the book picks up pace. That pace doesn’t let up until the end, and then it explodes into something huge. Something I didn’t see coming and took me 100% by surprise.

I admired Lisa. She had overcome so much in her life to get to where she was now. She was the child of addicts and a teenage mother. She had made a good life for herself as a reporter. But, I wasn’t surprised when she decided to investigate Marty’s death. I mean, he was the father of her child. I would have done the same thing. I also like that while she was tough, she was also vulnerable. While it didn’t show at the beginning of the book, her vulnerability showed in the middle and end.

The mystery angle of the book was well written and gripping. The author did a fantastic job of keeping who killed Marty under wraps until the explosive climax. I couldn’t put the book down; it was that good.

I will warn that there is some gore in the book. There are a couple of scenes that made me shudder while reading them. The author also has in-depth explanations about the black market for human body parts. It was eye-opening and saddening.

The book didn’t end when the killers were caught. Nope. Instead, it amped up for a second, slightly less explosive climax. I figured something would happen with that person; I wasn’t expecting what happened to happen (if you know what I mean).

I am looking forward to reading book 2, even though the author didn’t leave any clue about what it was going to be about.

I would recommend A Dead Man’s Eyes to anyone over the age of 21. There is language. There is violence.
