This was a beautiful and psychologically well-informed journey through a Western marriage. Alain takes us beyond the happy ever after & into the flawed, frustrating, fragile commitment of forever. I have learnt so much and appreciated the need for acceptance, patience and grace in every kind of relationship all over again.
Moderate: Infidelity and Sexual content

I didn't like this book much, I found it very boring.
I suppose I couldn't be further from the reality of marriage so I would say this book is good for anyone wanting to analyse love and its many intricacies.
At the moment though, not for me. I prefer my art to touch the weird/difficult/rare rather than the mundane.
PS. I did appreciate some parts, this one in particular:
Rather than split up, we may need to tell ourselves more accurate stories - stories that don't dwell so much on the beginning, that don't promise us complete understanding, that strive to normalize our troubles and sow us a melancholy yet hopeful path through the course of love .
