NBA HOFer Chris Bosh has structured this book as twelve letters written for a young athlete. Each letter addresses an important aspect of what it takes to become a better athlete and also a better person.  He draws on anecdotes from his personal experience and also from other professional atheletes. This book can also be read by the non-athlete because the lessons he is teaching are universal to life (grit, setting goals, leadership, communication, teamwork, etc.), and it's really perfect for the young reader.

Really nice chapters written to young athletes on important topics (working hard, being a teammate, communication). Never too complicated or preachy for young people.

12 letters. 12 incredible pieces of advice. Playing sports isn't all the glitz and glam as Chris Bosh writes about. My three takeaways were: Ego, Teamwork & Endurance. Each letter addresses those topics along with others such as an athlete's WHY. It's not about making the money or being the best, It's about trust, leadership and pushing through when you want to give up. This should be read not only by those who wish to pursue a life of sports, but leaders. There are many insightful ideas that leaders can learn from these letters. Definitely one at the top of my list.

Astoundingly wise and well-written book. I teared up multiple times reading this one.

First, you don’t need to be a sports fan or a basketball fan to enjoy this book. The lessons and advice Bosh gives is something you can apply to your general life. Second, I was surprised that the book was written as well as it was. I have read many books by former athletes and this one seemed to be more straightforward and clearly written than most.

Believe me when I say, I am not the target audience for this book.
But I picked it up because reaching the top of your field always leads to interesting observations about life, leadership and perseverance. Chris Bosh definitely delivered.
There are poignant observations about learning from your mistakes, taking care of your mind and body and gracefully moving on.
While the letters are penned to young athletes, I’d recommend this to anyone starting a new venture or looking for guidance on perseverance.

Despite the fact I am entirely uninterested in basketball, I was not entirely uninterested in this book.
