There was something about this book that I didn't like quite as much as the first... I think it has to do with the fact that I am married and greatly fear falling into this "average" American marriage trap that Kultgen so accurately portrays (IMO, obvs). It is slightly less raunchy than the Average American Male but only slightly so. It is interesting to see a marriage in the eyes of the guy and I found myself yearning to hear from his wife. Kultgen has a pretty clear message here and it is definitely a good sequel and had me laughing but something was missing and I think that something is hope.

I hate read this one after reading Average American Male and it’s just like. Not a good book. I’m genuinely embarrassed for every freak in the goodreads reviews for this book who’s like “he’s just SAYING what we’re ALLLL THINKING!!!!”

I don’t know why I torture myself by reading this author’s crap. It’s boring. Poorly written.

I reluctantly give this book a 3 although for my reading pleasure it was more of a 1 as it's really not my kind of novel. I admire the writer for "telling it like it is" and being searingly candid but it was a little too graphic for me. If I were unmarried and read this thinking this really was an "average" marriage, I would probably run screaming from the nuptials.

That all being said, the guy can write and there were times it was just too painful--or sickening--to read but guys who like Max Tucker's "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell" may enjoy this writer's brutal honesty.

Pure trash. Typical Kultgen. A quick hilarous read.

I read the first Average American Male in my mid-20s. I learned of this sequel only recently, so I've come to it in my late 30s. This makes me approximately the same age as the narrator each time, unintentionally.

At times he's an I've seen it. Are some men overgrown frat boys? Yeah, some are.

Do I identify with any of it? In parts, yeah. Some times he frustrated me — he's absolute knob, and I don't find it difficult to believe there are real people who are this shallow.

Other times, when he spoke about what was genuinely important in his life (not just banging), I found him relatable.

I listened to this book on my way to work every morning and I have to say I enjoyed every minute of it. It's extremely predictable and simplistically written, but still a lot of fun. Why would the account of an extremely boring life of a burned-out 36-year-old man whose only joy is masturbating to college girl porn fun? Well, it just is. Some of the observations on the nature of marriage for the sake of marriage are spot on.
