Sorcery, Werewolves, and Suicide…

Southern Sorcery by Amy Boyles is an adventure filled book. So many things were going on. I wasn’t sure what was connected and what wasn’t. One lesson to remember is that mental health issues happen to everyone even witches. But we are also reminded that love can be the bridge that saves us all.

Below are just some of the things happening to the Sweet Tea Witches in this installment:

  • Rufus gets around the Magnolia Cove Protection Spell and puts a spell on Pepper to steal her powers (which we know from the last book’s cliffhanger).

  • Rufus gets caught and put in jail.

  • Elderly witches and wizards are dying, supposedly by suicide.

  • Pepper and Axel search for a way to remove Rufus’ spell. Getting closer to each other as they do it.

  • Cordelia’s previous boyfriend, Zach returns and wants her back. Decisions. Sheriff Garrick or Zack?

  • Amelia gets a new job.

  • Minty and Licky arrive in town just in time to spread some chaos. Oh, and who knew magical lions like tomatoes?

  • Betty is, of course, Betty. Yep, she is still my favorite character.

And maybe Betty would call ahead with magic. Heck, I didn’t have a phone, but that little lady had more power in one of her boobs than I had in my whole body. I wasn’t one hundred percent sure of that, but I was pretty darned positive.

Boyles, Amy. Southern Sorcery (Sweet Tea Witch Mysteries Book 4) (Kindle Locations 2191-2193). LADYBUGBOOKS LLC. Kindle Edition.

Things I liked:

  • Flying Ashton Marten (with spotlights)

  • The town vault, truly ingenious.

  • Magical guard lions.

  • The Magical Hat Shop.

  • Pepper used her powers, and she figured out Rufus’ plan before the others. (I am so happy for her).

  • Pop culture references that Pepper used but the other witches don’t get.

The only thing that I disliked was the cliffhanger ending. However, it worked I am ready to read the next book, Southern Curses. Good thing that it was released earlier this month.

5 Stars for Southern Sorcery by Amy Boyles

I truly enjoyed Southern Sorcery by Amy Boyles, and therefore my rating is five stars. I enjoy spending time in Magnolia Cove with Pepper and her family. This book is my favorite in the Sweet Tea Witch Mysteries series so far. I am starting the installment Southern Curses, let’s hope that it is as good. If you haven’t read this series of cozy paranormal mysteries, then you should check them out. Pepper and her family are pretty funny.

Pepper Dunn is back! The action starts in the first page of the first chapter and the next book is set up in the very last chapter of this book (no wonder there are so many books in this series!). My main commentary for this book is this--this book is less about building Pepper's relationships with her family (though her cooky cousins and aunts, and their magical b00bs are still in the book, have no fear) and more about her werewolf boyfriend and his unfailing loyalty. Also quite the runaround with a few of the townsfolk in trying to cast the correct spell to keep evil warlock Rufus out (will it finally work this time? stay tuned to find out!). Overall a decent (and silly) cozy paranormal mystery.
Set in Magnolia Cova, AL

I enjoyed this book and the story as much as the previous ones, but I feel like this one was a bit less funny than the others. It was a good entertainment nonetheless.
