This was a really fitting conclusion to this series. I loved getting to see more fates and how they interacted with the main characters and each other. I want to much more lore about the fates! The stakes were high and plans failed along the way, which was very stressful. I felt like the two love triangles got kind of old though, and this book spends more time on the romances than the other two books, which wasn’t my favorite. Lots of good twists and turns though, and it left me wanting more!

This was a very satisfying ending to the trilogy. I especially enjoyed the dual pov as it was the perfect way to tell the story of the last book.
Personally, I am not the biggest fan of Garner's storytelling because I feel like the jumps in time sometimes make things seem to random or like the characters aren't as important as they should be.
I still enjoyed Tella more than Scarlett but I definitely grew fonder of Scar in this book.
Scar turning out to be half-fate came as kind of a surprise but then again it explained why she had been seeing colours all the time and why the sisters look nothing alike. I am still not quite sure how I feel about Tella and Jacks because I felt like there were too many things unexplained to believe he would have become so obsessed with her. I enjoyed that Tella and Legend finally got together and felt like him sacrificing his immortality for her was a very fitting ending to their love story. She truly did safe him.

I think I’ve come to accept that I just like reading from Scarlett’s POV. I absolutely loved the first book but when we got Tella’s POV in Legendary it just took me out of the story and I thought it was just getting used to this new voice but it was the same here in Finale. I just wasn’t as invested when reading Tella’s parts. Scarlett just captivated me and that was still present in her chapters so I wished there were more of them.

Also I just miss the magic of Caraval. This one was dealing more with the Fates and the empire and I just missed the fun atmosphere of Caraval. It was sort of interesting learning more about their mother (and I wouldn’t be opposed to learning more about her when she was younger) but I felt like it was a bit of a wasted opportunity because she didn’t stay with them long at all before she was gone. And I also feel like the Legend arc was left wanting more. It kind of felt last second that’s right that storyline needs tied up.

As a finale everything felt a bit underwhelming. There were moments things were building up but they just didn’t peak. First book is still everything though.

Finale wasn’t exactly what I thought it would be, but I had a good time reading it nonetheless.

This book was a mixed bag for me. There were some aspects of it that worked really well for me, and some that I could have done without. There was one particular subplot that was dropped as quickly as it was started, and there were some characters that could have been entirely excluded and I would t have noticed.

The magic in this book felt more fleshed out than the previous two, which I definitely appreciated. However, I don’t actually understand how magic works in this world. How do people get magic? Where did it come from? How does it work? I don’t think these questions could be answered at the moment.

This series was fun, and I can see why it’s so popular, but it wasn’t quite there for me. Finale in particular was not quite what I wanted it to be. 3.5 stars.

I enjoyed this book but not as much as the first one. The sisters are still as careless and naive as they were in book one and that seems ridiculous given everything they’ve been through. Their plans for beating the bad guys just seemed silly and  super unrealistic. It was a fun read but I’m glad to be done with the world now.
