verglichen mit den teilen davor, war es wirklich so fast paced und noch tausendmal spannender!! die welt ist SO TOLL, die vibes sind unfassbar; man wurde beim lesen richtig reingezogen und es war so toll.
jude my queen 😭 i loved her so much! i dont know if i want to be her or if i want to be with her… my girl ist aber vor allem queen of overthinking; manche leute sind einfach nett und mögen sie und sie schiebt psychose, dass alles ein geheimer plan gegen sie ist?? calm down
ich muss in dieser review my man madoc ansprechen; he was the worst dad ever but why was he so hot 😭 habe lowkey für ihn gerootet die ganze zeit, he was so evil but i was into it irgendwie ;

Getting to look back now, I love how cohesive it all is and how perfect of a build-up the first two books were for the finale. It’s so wonderfully overwhelming, I feel like I’m in shock.
I couldn’t quite say this one is better than the first two books per se, though I definitely enjoyed it the most, but I feel what makes it so beautiful is the build-up leading up to all of this. It’s the perfect conclusion and I just feel so in love with the series as a whole.
Plus, I cannot believe Holly Black (co-)authored The Spiderwick Chronicles! I loved the 2008 adaptation of that as a kid. It wasn’t my usual cup of tea, but for some reason, I really enjoyed it. So when I was looking through her other works, it was a most pleasant surprise to find out her works have apparently long been present in my life. Pretty sure The Folk of the Air will stick with me in the same unique way TSC did with me as a child.
Could definitely see myself picking this up again one day.
PS: I know Oak has a spin-off, but I kinda also hope to find out what happens to Nicasia and the rest of the Shadow Court even as novellas.

quotes
I feel as though I am dreaming away my days, restless, never fully awake.
"I knew you liked her," says Locke. "That's why I had to have her first. Do you remember the party in my maze garden? How I kissed her while you watched?"
"I recall that your hands were on her, but her eyes were on me" Carden returns.
"Greetings, Your Majesty, you betraying toad."
"The only danger anyone has ever been in at a Council meeting is of being bored to death."
"It was terrifying watching you fall. I mean, you're generally terrifying, but I am unused to fearing for you."
"Mortals are fragile."
"Not you. You never break."
"I didn't mean to hurt you. I didn't think I could hurt you. And I never thought you would be afraid of me."
"Well, I was hurt, and yes, you scare me. You've always scared me. I was afraid of you even when you were tied to that chair in the Court of Shadows. I was afraid of you when I had a knife to your throat. And I am scared of you now."
"Be welcome on the Isle of Ismire. To you, I offer honey wine and the hospitality of my table. But to traitors and oath breakers, I offer my queen's hospitality instead. The hospitality of knives."
"It's you I love. I spent much of my life guarding my heart. I guarded it so well that I could behave as though I didn't have one at all. Even now, it is a shabby, worm-eaten, and scabrous thing. But it is yours. You probably guessed as much. But just in case you didn't."
I can't believe he just said that and then just walked out, leaving me reeling. I am going to strangle him.
You love him, too. You've loved him since before you were a prisoner of the Undersea. You loved him when you agreed to marry him.
Once this is over, I will find the bravery to tell him.
When he kisses me, I feel as though I can finally breathe again.
