A really nice end. I actually like the shore ending- like the Great War wasn’t the point- defending their home was.

i don't always love tolkien's medieval-style prose, but the characters are so endearing and (hot take) the man is pretty good at worldbuilding. the pacing of this book is also WILD but i think i like that the story keeps going for a while after the big climactic moment. the war ends but life doesn't, so the story doesn't.

Greatest betrayal in history is Frodo and Sam were the gayest they could be without being gay.
Actually tho crying my eyes out at the ending. I didn’t read the appendix.

This time I was fully prepared to read through all the appendices, and even take notes while I did so.
