Art is significantly less disturbing than the first book.

I have loved little Molly Lou since she stacked pennies on her teeth. This new adventure is just as lovely and brave as the first, and the nod toward creativity and the "maker" movement that is popular right now makes this an excellent mentor text or read aloud for groups that aren't quite sure about jumping forward with their own creativity. As before, the illustrations are as bold and beautiful as Molly Lou and her Grandma - just perfect! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to watch those SKY-wide movies in the clouds.

Molly Lou Melon is the best! When a new girl moves next door Molly shares all the wonderful ways she has learned to create her own fun.

I have long been a fan of Molly Lou Melon, who is plucky and interesting and all that one hopes a child can be. I also love me a picturebook that is pro-imagination, so I am totally delighted with this new Molly Lou Melon offering. The thing that delights me most of all is that it took me most of the book to realize that new neighbor Gertie is a disabled child -- because that never matters to Molly Lou Melon, any more than it should matter to us.

I absolutely love this book! First, the illustrations are brilliant and fun. I love the lessons that Molly Lou teaches kiddos about using their imagination. And this book features a child with a disability without ever bringing that into the story which I love. Molly Lou behaves no differently toward Gertie and Gertie behaves no differently because of her disability.
