Are you telling me that Darwin, the dude who “came up” with the idea of evolution was experimenting on a piece of pasta at some moment?

Was Percy writing as himself or as Mary? Cause if he was writing as Mary, it was a pretty sick burn to just tell, that some other author is way better than her.

Letters:

Letter 1 is trying to make us like Walton so hard.

The letters before really were lovey dovey.

Bro got no rizz to make friends.

“Oh, sister mine, I am gentle and not aggressive like other sailors not because Mary Shelley was revolutionizing the literature and male character, but because you raised me!”

First of all, the young Russian lady seems to have it all figured out, seeing that she managed to stay with the dude long enough for him to get his father’s blessing, while liking someone else. Second of all, the moral of the story is to not buy land right before marriage.

The lieutenant straight up really just wanted his loved one to be happy, which is kinda slay, hopefully he is not just eternally bitter about it.

Is it a racial slur, if it is about turkish people?

Wasn’t he going to the North Pole? Why would he be at the southern point of america or africa?

Mrs. Saville, England is a bad address.

Robert is as indecisive with his signature as a kid in fourth grade that just learned about it and wants the coolest one.

No consciousness? No worries, we got brandy.

“You did not ask me any questions.”
“Yes, of course, it would be rude.” Autistic aaa.

“This random dude on my ship is so attractive” I love old English.

“Many hours of repose and tranquil conversations were necessary to restore his composure.” They should tell that to doctors.

Mary Shelley, show not tell.

Text:

Why did he marry the daughter of his friend??????? At least he took bussin care of her and she does not seem to complain and their love is explained so beautifully.

Elizabeth is like his gift? And he percives her as “his”? And she is his adopted sister? But they call each other cousin?

Are Elizabeth and Clerval together?

Can Victor decide between his parents being great and never doing anything wrong and his father being responsible for the whole story?

I do not think that is the way how lightnings work?

I did not expect this book to touch on how it feels to move away from your family, even if you kinda wanted it.

Damn, bro just walked into uni and got shamed.

Frankenstein is the number one victim of listening to a cool teacher and believing that you can now do anything.

It is surprising to see how free the uni is.

Of course Victor was oh so special.

This is a lot of stuff that seems like an allegory to giving birth with all the labour.

“But this discovery was so great and overwhelming that all the steps by which I had progressively led to it were obliterated”, she really went “i dunno, it’s fiction”.

“Listen patienty”, bro, there are like 5 more hours in the audiobook.

He was just like, “yeah, am bad son”.

He really just fixed all the problems in this ideal world, where pursuit does not interfere with tranquility.

"He knew that I could not have a more kind and attentive nurse than himself."

Brothers?

It is a bit funny to see Elizabeth go “Ah yes, your favourite nanny, you probably forgot her, let me tell her whole story.”

Little wives?

Frankenstein is experiencing that time in the lives of every white women, where live laugh love sign enters her amount and she starts to speak about karma.

This is the point, where I went to look up fanfiction between Frankenstein and Clerval, because the way Frankenstein speaks about him is so passionate.

“Henry rejoiced in my gaiety and sincerely sympathized in my feelings; he exerted himself to amuse me, while he expressed the sensations that filled his soul. The resources of his mind on this occasion were truly astonishing; his conversation was full of imagination, and very often, in imitation of the Persian and Arabic writers, he invented tales of wonderful fancy and passion. At other times he repeated my favourite poems or drew me out into arguments, which he supported with great ingenuity.”

Elizabeth is so extremely rash with her conclusions.

I do not understand why Victor did not take Clerval with him to go back home for a bit, it is clearly an emotional journey and he is having such a hard time with it himself.

It is so extremely weird that the father of Frankenstein chose to request a painting of his wife at the time when he found her while she was crying over her father. So so weird.

“(...) the poor girl confirmed the suspicion in a great measure by her extreme confusion of matter.” Yeah, that is surely an evidence.

Yeah, I’m said about Justine, I have feelings.

Frankenstein be just chilling in nature for like a chapter. Queen needs her rest after going through shit.

We got story within story now.

How does he know even around what hour it is?

"(...) ran across the fields with a speed of which his debilitated form hardly appeared capable."

How does he know what wine is?

Bet your ridge wallet cannot be used to deposit leftovers in it.

Felix is emo.

Arabian?

Volney's Ruins of Empires.

We be talking a lot about native Americans.

Just bragging that I read about Paris while flying more or less over Paris.

Safie’s heart was just promised? Straight up no rights.

And in the middle of this all we are talking about how bad islam is? Bro.

Where are all these notes from? He was talking a while ago about how he will never able to retrace his steps. And why did Frankenstein leave his journal in the lab coat?

Servants? They had servants?

The creature turned to anger kinda abruptly and it feels like there would have been better ways of getting to know the family from the cottage.

Creature is the top one dude after which all the girlies looked at true crime dudes and went “but he was hurt”.

I bet the creature is not actually straight, it is just what he perceived.

Why is his appetite that way? What caused that?

Frankenstein is so smart for being like “u will get lonely and come back, i know it”.

Why does he need to ask his dad whether he can travel somewhere?

Victor’s dad is speaking a lot about how he does not want to push him to marriage, while also kinda pushing him, did Mary Shelley kinda get married against her will?

p. 149-151

I love how Shelley just took a poem someone else wrote.

Henry wants to help Britain be a colonizer?

Did he bring pieces of corpses all the way to that island from London? Cause that is when he was talking about gathering materials.

The creature chose to put themselves through cold and hunger and then they are like: “Tis cause of you, do not break my hopes”. Dude, that was your choice?

Alternative ending: Victor does sail out into the Atlantic.

Why did he have money with him?

Oh no, the Irish are bad :c

Justine, Vol. 2

Why did Victor scream full voice about what happened? Stupid, stupid man.

Where did Lizzy get inheritance from?

Don’t be sad, wife, cause I will be sad and you should not upset me.

How did that place still have provisions for Victor to buy?

They should have made this into a play, which would have been just Victor’s monologue.

If Victor talked about more than just the story, why is that the only thing we saw?

Did he compare Clerval and Elizabeth?

Victor is so weird about people wanting to turn back?

No one:
Walton: You would never believe what I just saw!

I didn't enjoy the book itself much as Victor Frankenstein is a selfish drama queen who bought misery to all he touched. However, going over the book in exhaustive detail during class did allow me to appreciate it in context so my rating bumped up a little.

OKAY wow. I had to read this for school and??? I will not be the first to announce, but Mary Shelley hits SO HARD.

We all know the story of Frankenstein, ish? Right? Man wants to create life, does, and then chaos ensues. Amazing. But, when I tell you I didn't expect this story to be so emotionally written?? That's I think what blew me away the most, a lot of people say this story goes too far and is too graphic... but I've definitely read worse when it comes to content and gore wise. This!!! THIS book makes me want to keep writing.

I had to suddenly read this book for a college class I'm taking this semester and, though put on a time crunch, it was surprisingly a painless read. I throughly enjoyed the characters, I was happy to understand the language (19th century English can be so hit or miss- Persuasion was a tougher time when I had to read that a few months ago), and the stories pacing only felt fast in moments but was evened out by the character's reflection on his own feelings and thoughts. Poor Victor. Poor Monster. It's really a crazy crazy read.

If you don't want to read it, then I don't think it's an imperative book to be reading- but if you're wanting a good, classic English novel? This is probably a good one to start with, I like to think. ALSO it's right around October when the season gets spookier... so do with that what you will ;). Super happy to have read the book!! The Monster might?? Be my favorite character? I don't know if that's a controversial opinion but... yk. Opinions :O!!

I have maybe too many intricate thoughts about the book to properly put into words, it is a hard novel to describe and definitely has been a topic of discourse in English classes. The question usually being: Who is the real monster? I don't know if my answer is sufficient, but it is a crazy question to ask now with having read the book haha. Anyway, a good read!! I definitely would recommend giving it a try!
