“Suddenly, he felt that the world had no place for him, despite how large it was. He didn’t know what to do either.”

I find it devastating that Wei Wuxian really just wanted to help the people he cared about and everything he tried failed… in the end he really lost everything.

It’s even more sad when you think about how he died thinking Lan Wangji hated him, even though he was probably one of the people who loved him the most. In those 13 years of Wei Wuxian being dead he really raised the child Wei Wuxian basically adopted during his time at the burial mounds and raised him… He never would’ve stopped loving Wei Wuxian because he impacted his life in such a significant way, he was the freedom and indulgence Lan Wangji needed and Wei Wuxian needed someone who would stay by his side no matter what… They’re so important to each other…

The show (The Untamed) was obviously amazing but the book is better since it actually has the gay relationship and marriage between the two leads. The book structure didn't work for me with the incessant flashbacks and the odd translation but I'm still SO grateful for the hard work of the translators. I love that everything caters to the female gaze in the show and in the book.

In short, everyone is traumatised. Severely.

Time to read the rest of the author's works.

I don't remember when I read this book but I still remember almost every detail that were written in the story. That is how good MXTX's writing skill is. MDZS is quite a heavy read (especially for someone emotional such as me). The main character is extremely well-written I actually got annoyed with it (don't mind me). I just can't put the book down until I finished it.
