I absolutely love how this author writes a series and each one ends up being from a different characters point of view. This was such a great second book and I would definitely recommend it!! Such an amazing author!

It is no secret that Jamie McGuire is my favorite author. I adored everything about Red Hill, and I was so excited to get yet another side to this apocalyptic story. Even better was that we would FINALLY know the truth about Scarlet's daughters' journey.

Reading the story through the eyes of a thirteen year old really makes you realize how catastrophic and terrifying a zombie outbreak would be. Add in the fact that you are separated from your main caregiver, your mother, is even more devastating.

Most people are afraid to read companion novellas because they feel it will be the exact same story. I can tell you that in this case, that is absolutely NOT the case with Among Monsters. This novella is nearly all new material, and will make you appreciate McGuire's imagination even further. Jenna's will to get to Red Hill and reunite with her mother is inspiring, and how I hope I'd react if I found myself separated from family in a world ending event. She helps act as her younger sister's caretaker, and their relationship is also a beautiful thing to witness.

There are so many creepy moments in Among Monsters. Along with that, you have a sense of foreboding nearly the entire time. My favorite thing about the novella, however, was how McGuire intertwined aspects of Red Hill with this story. I won't get into specifics for fear of spoiling parts of the story, but I'll say some scenes and characters you come across will be familiar in a capacity.

Among Monsters is the perfect companion to an already brilliant tale. Fans of Red Hill and Jamie McGuire will not be let down.
