I've put off reading this since it came out because the hype felt too overwhelming. I'm glad I finally read it but it didn't compare to the original trilogy for me. I enjoyed spending time in this world again and my favourite part was the first half, focusing on Malcolm's life in Oxford. The journey in the second half got a little repetitive and while it was pretty gripping while I was reading, on reflection I felt like something was missing. It does make sense that it felt unfinished, since it's only the first part of The Book of Dust. However unfortunately I don't feel that excited about finding out what happens next.
Moderate: Sexual assault and Violence
