I loved this book as a kid. It was one of my very first forays into the magical, long before I read Tolkien, though I would like to think it readied my for the eventual journey. I think I read this in maybe 3rd grade. It's a little fuzzy but that's about when I really started to get into books.

I have to give this 5 stars because this book was pivotal in my life. I reread it multiple times and cried because it wasn't real and because I didn't want to have to give it back to the library. This book is to me what Wild Heart is to Stevie Nicks- if you have ever heard her explain what that album meant for her. These reviews are really just for myself sorry!
