Very sweet romance involving three of the four Calhoun sisters as they face the loss of their ancestral home in Maine, struggle with jewel thieves, and attempt to discover the truth behind the death of their great-grandmother.

Mild and romantic with a range of characters: the mystical Aunt Coco, the automotively-inclined Catherine, crisp, businesslike Amanda, Lilah the mystical naturalist vying with a hotel magnate, an architect, and a history professor-cum-writer to solve the mystery of lost family heirlooms and the truth behind Bianca's death in 1913.

Obviously written before the current generation, when no didn’t mean no. Two obnoxious, controlling men and one not much better fall for the three sisters. It seems like it was all based on appearances and sexual attraction, because that was about all that was explored.

I struggled through this one. I normally love reading Nora Roberts, but I didn't really care about these characters. The only part I liked was the overarching story about Bianca and her emeralds. The only reason I pushed through this book was to find out what happened with the jewels. Unfortunately, there's another book! I'm not sure if I'll be reading it. Or if I do, it won't be for some time.

Courting Catherine 2.5
A Man for Amanda 3.5
This book served as a wonderful introduction to the stories of the Calhoun women. Though I thought both love stories were fast, I found CC and Trent’s love wonderful and Amanda and Sloan’s charming and exciting. I liked how the stories sort of reversed the roles of the MCs, switching the genders of the meticulous vs laid back personalities. Amanda and Sloan’s story was better in my opinion as it had more action in terms of the mysterious search for the necklace and we got to explore Bianca and Christians love story some more. I can’t wait to read what happens next.

pretty good read - i am interested in seeing where the next book (stories 4 & 5 of the series) brings the family. the romance moves awfully fast in this book - we're supposed to believe that, in a matter of 4-6 weeks, three of the sisters have found their soulmates. other than that, i'd say the stories are entertaining.
