Note: The book description here is incorrect. This collection doesn't include the story of Caution Farseer, the Wilful Princess and the Piebald Prince.

It does have a lot of great stories though. The Lindholm stories I'd mostly describe as gritty, down-to-earth real world settings, with a touch of magic (or aliens, or vampires) that seems all the more magical because the rest of the world is so relentlessly awful. "Drum Machine" is the only exception, being set in what appears to be a far future where reproduction is controlled.

The three Robin Hobb stories are set in the universe of her Elderlings books. Like most of that universe, they are immersive, suspenseful, and wonderful.
