Overall I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others HOWEVER the book sometimes, particularly early on, seems to indulge in gratuitous dark witchiness for shock value and feels prone to leading with the baneful before the rest. This is my biggest complaint. I don’t mind the topic per se, I just didn’t feel that it needed to lead with cursing, baneful plants etc before looking at the other side. There was one particular working that felt like an especially odd choice - as if to filter the reader who might be triggered by such an example - which is sad because overall the book is quite good. I am glad that I stuck with it.
