So I chose this book because the title reminded me of my favourite song Your Love Is King by Sade and I'm happy to say both H/h listen to this song several time making it the soundtrack to this sweet, heart warming, inspirational clean romantic story.

Chris and Marli's story is all about second chances and never being too old to find love, acceptance, happiness and fulfilling your dreams and being true to yourself.

This story highlighted the everyday personal struggles of both Marli and Chris and how the path to finding happiness, love and acceptance is a difficult one littered with personal failure, disappointments and tragedy but with a bit of courage, luck, hope and support from friends/family anything is possible.

Chris is a talented musician who was orphaned at a very young age and was adopted and raised by Rev. King and his family. And the fact that Chris is white and his family black is beside the point as far as he is concerned. I especially enjoyed that Chris had all the swagger and attitude of a black guy and was a smoother talker but at the same time he was respectful, protective and sweet when it came to Marli.

Marli is a thirty-something plus-size African-American woman who is a nurse and a divorced single mum of an older teenage girl. She has made some wrong choices in her life and is now feeling trapped in a monotonous life with a job she doesn't enjoy. Her struggles were heartbreaking.
SpoilerHer parents and their cruel ways and words made me so mad that I was literally itching to slap them both. How could they be so horrible and vicious to their own daughter?!
I loved how she managed to break out of the vicious cycle of emotional anguish, feelings of failure and managed to heal past wounds by finding her inner strength with the help of an extraordinary man, a good friend, an amazing daughter, prayer and good music.

The love of a good man/woman can heal all wounds given time an patience!

Ms Thompson crafted a great story with well rounded characters. But it would've been great to also see the other side of the story from Chris's POV and not just Marli all the way. Still, I enjoyed this heart warming story full of love, courage and redemption.
