I feel the ending is reflective of the process of getting help, often putting time and money into inconclusive and ineffective treatment, some of us feel as if we are always ‘in treatment’. I think the end is hopeful, and you really get to notice the “inarticulate” Bunny begin to articulate and deal with her feelings and traumas through her creative writing. this book is for anyone who has ever felt alone, isolated, forgotten and exhausted from living with depression or mental illness. Binnie Kirshenbaum has done a fantastic job here.Graphic: Blood, Fatphobia, Grief, Medical trauma, Suicide, Addiction, Alcohol, Animal death, Death, Eating disorder, Gore, Infidelity, Injury/Injury detail, Medical content, Mental illness, Panic attacks/disorders, Self harm, Suicidal thoughts, and Suicide attempt

Please proceed with caution if you are struggling with depression as this book may be triggering. I have no idea why the blurb portrays this story as some light, comedic, hilarious telling of depression — while there are several lines I highlighted because they were so ridiculously funny, overall this book is most definitely not a comedy nor even a dark comedy. Rabbits for Food is sad and heart wrenching ... but it is also real and beautiful and I’m so glad I read it. “Isn’t it pretty to think so?”
