This book was a wonderful reading experience. It was able to make the reader feel the characters’ emotions, passion for theater, and, of course, drama.

This is a story about some theater kids and the drama that can happen behind the scenes of the show. There were parts that were funny and I thought that there were some good things happening with discussions about coming out and generally coming out of your shell as a person. I did find parts clunky or frustrating at times but overall, it was pretty cute.

This was a cute, quick read and it is definitely firmly a YA book. The illustrations are so well done and the way the author made it seem like it was a play within a play was great. I think it really captures the uncertainties of being in middle school and discovering who you are, first heartbreak, first loves - all of it.

This graphic novel was a fun way to revisit my roots in musical theater. It definitely reads as very young middle grade, which is great considering the gentle introduction of gay characters. The dialogue read a bit too unnatural for me as an adult reader, but I think lots of kids would really enjoy this book. It’s great for them to see a protagonist who is a confident middle schooler and who is learning to manage her emotions.
