I love how they've changed Harley from a victim to a badass mom and detective. Some people might argue that this isn't their Harley Quinn and I can see that but I love the changes Sean Murphy has done with the character, evolving her from a one-note side character to a main character now that she doesn't have to share the spotlight with Batman or the Joker. This picks up after Curse of the White Knight and directly follows Harley as she tries to figure out who she is now. I go back and forth on the origin story and it kind of relies on how you feel about the changes Murphy has also made with the Jokers backstory. From a character standpoint I like this, from a story perspective, meh. The Starlet isnt a very compelling villain and I'm not very interested in the mystery.

Really solid story, gorgeous drawings and great depiction of HQ. The ending was a little loose, the Producer lacked direction as a villain, but I think the next White Night comics can fix that.

It's a thoroughly enjoyable Harley story without being earth shatteringly good. I've probably already forgotten most of it, but it seems to have added a bit to the character and wasn't downright stupid. It just wasn't the most memorable, but a quick way to kill an hour or so without having your intelligence insulted or the canon so wildly and weirdly corrupted as in a lot of Batman--especially this White Knight stuff and the work of Sean Murphy--literature lately. You've always got to love a former criminal turned police profiler who admits that both sides of that equation are totally crazy!

The White Knight universe has delivered some incredibly memorable Batman storylines and Harley Quinn is no exception. Following in continuity from Azrael's rampage through Gotham, this newest installment sees Murphy handing off the writing reins to Katana Collins. From there, we get a new vision of Harley after Joker. Mother, hero, doctor--Harley has been many people and is still left trying to fit the pieces of her old life together into the start of a new one. When a new villain steps onto the stage to fill the power vacuum in Gotham's underworld, Harley is one of the few equipped to stand in the way. Interweaving her backstory with this tale of an older, increasingly complex Harley Quinn, Collins, Murphy, and Scalera deliver a story that succeeds on so many levels--plot, character, theme, and art. The Batman Murphyverse is still going strong with its unique take on familiar characters and with this volume, the ongoing evolution of Harley Quinn does not disappoint.
