FIRST LINE REVIEW: "The grandmother didn't want to go to Florida." In typical O'Connor fashion, these short stories take a dark view of humanity, peeling back the veneer of compassion with a perceptive scalpel that leaves few glimmers of hope that we'll ever find the good person who will make life more bearable.
