this was horrific from beginning to end but i was utterly transfixed. the brutalisation of the central figure janey as a microcosm of patriarchal capitalism that requires the violent sexualisation and mechanisation of female bodies was awful and incredible. read with caution!

perhaps this book was a bit too experimental for my tastes. i don't regret reading it; the commentary between ramblings proved adequate enough to not leave me bored senseless. but i don't think i'll be pondering on this book for much longer.
