This novel is described as a modern classic, and I honestly couldn't agree more. The story is poignant and interesting, and stays with you after finishing it. Reading a colonization narrative from the point of view of a girl who sees it as a way to improve her life and change her lot in life was incredible. Dangarembga's writing is flawless.
