I’m not usually a YA fan...

But the description for this was too good to pass. Even though these guys are 17 when the books starts I think that I would consider it New Adult because of the heavy themes.

This was an intense ride for sure. But Jimmy and Simon were adorable. I think they dealt with some dark scary stuff well. But the interactions with their friends still showed how they were just teens too. It’s a delicate balance but this author nailed it.

Looks like this might be her first book and I can’t wait to see what this author does in the future. (Pssst...Sean and Kip!)

This was so freaking cute. Sometimes it was too much, but well, I do love a good happy ending.
Edit: Now I realise! This was just like a Destiel fanfic! Exactly as cavity-inducing sweet, with the happy ending, and the can't-help-but-smile-all-the-time feeling while reading it. Even if it touched some dark topics. I liked that homophobia wasn't as much of an issue, because we live in the 21st centure and that shouldn't even be a problem anymore.

I persevered and finally finished this book, when all I really wanted to do is use it for kindling. I knew from the first "baby" that there would be no redemption for this book. I'm all for fluff, but this was just over-the-top ridiculous. It might not have been so painful to read if the author hadn't found the need to over explain/describe every single thing, making it needlessly long. Is the fact that the new SUV they bought was a mocha brown Nissan at all relevant that it needs it's one paragraph to describe it? I'm sure some people loved this book; I find myself at odds with that thought, as reading this book will forever turn me off attempting to read anymore works by the author.

This was cute but very very flawed. Everything was way too extra. If you are looking for a sweet boy meets boy fairy tale with quite a few eye rolling scenes, this is a good choice. 2.5 stars
