This book is very niche and very dependent on having a certain partner and lifestyle for any of the advice to work. I appreciated the effort and honesty, but unless you’re a wealthy WASP with a husband willing and able to not only see your viewpoint, but give in to your needs, this isn’t for you. I feel a grasp of understanding of different households, incomes and the concept of capability vs capacity would have changed a lot of the advice given here. Most was not applicable to my life situation, and nothing to do with my spouse…simply I’m not this author in her career in her neighborhood with her children. I understand the point of writing this, but her shortsightedness on understanding its lack of applicability was prevalent.

I was so excited to finally read this after my Libby hold (of several months) was finally ready. I have heard great things about this book. I will admit, I am intrigued by the methods of splitting up tasks and responsibilities. However, based on my husband and I, I do not think it would work for us. BUT I do think it could work for a lot of other people/couples, AND we might even try it out for funsies one day. I like that the attitude and prose was not condescending; I didn’t feel any pressure that I HAD to adopt this system. However, I got the feeling the author feels like this is the ONLY way to split up responsibilities in a marriage. I might have interpreted it wrong, but that’s the vibe I got. An interesting take, but I don’t think we will be trying it anytime soon.

A great read for any couples therapist. This book provides an excellent exercise in helping bring about fair dynamics in relationships. I highly recommend looking into getting the fair play card deck.

ROLES EX New superwoman - My way or move out

Min standard of care questions:
1. Would a reasonable person under similar circumstances do as I have done?
2. What is the community standard? Do we want to adapt the community standard into our own home?
3. What’s the harm for doing or not doing it and this way?
4. What is our why?

A little skeptical of the system but already bought the cards. Will update after a few rounds of “playing the game” my life could defy benefit from a system at this point…

It was but a DNF. I think you can get just as much out of tiktoks and the card game itself
