This book feels like a dream, the slow moving and mysterious story made for an amazing read. my only minor complaint being the slight insta-love, which is always something that is hard for me to buy into as a reader. If you want to fall into an uncertain, but undeniably beautiful world, this is the book for you.

This book was wonderful! It was refreshing and like nothing else I had ever read. It was mysterious and romantic and magical and everything I could ask for in an engaging book. I loved that it was unpredictable. I also loved each and every one of the characters. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a book with a beautiful story and deep, complex characters.

This is honestly a really hard book to rate. As I enjoyed reading it but the ending felt me wanting more. In the sense that I wanted to learn more about the characters with the circus that grew in my imagination though the book. The book has intriguing ideas that need more time to develop as the plot threads take too long to intwine and moving but tie up too quickly which causes the feeling of a rushed conclusion.

Started off with such promise, the plot, the settings, characters and writing style. I loved it!  A third way through though, everything became bland.

My biggest gripe is the insta love in this book, it is one of the poorest attempts I have ever had to witness.

I feel like this book was more about the wonders of magic than it was about anything else. Magic is portrayed here as not just a tool people use, or a gift people have. It's more the other way around - magic has the gift of people in The Night Circus and uses people to bring it to life. And to that thought, Morgenstern does an excellent job of painting the world with magic and making it gleam and glow and fizzle. Ultimately, however, I wanted more from this book than what I got. Most of the characters sort of dither about for most of the book, content with maybes and possibilities, and only (finally!) choosing to affect their own lives only in the last hundred pages. If you want to bask in the ethereal light of wonderment for 400 pages, read this book.
