I so badly wanted to love this book as much as I loved Binding 13.  It was a lot more emotionally charged and I simply was not ready.  It was such a good pace with perfectly timed comedic relief amongst the sad bits.

The ending was just a little lack luster for me.  I get that this is the end of Shannon and Johnny’s story; but I don’t think it teased Joey’s story enough to draw me in.  I am still going to read it, but I’m okay taking a break from this series for a little bit before I start.

Best Rugby Series Ever!

Chloe Walsh has a way of writing that has you completely hooked from the first word.

❝𝒎𝒚 𝒃𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 13,❞ 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒏 𝒔𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒅. ❝𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒊’𝒎 𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 13.❞

➛ ❝the very first day you walked into my life, you changed me. that very first time i saw you? you sparked to life something inside of me and i haven’t been the same since.❞
➛ ❝i already told you, i need you for keeps. there’s no expiration date between us.❞
➛ ❝you’re my everything.❞

The story : As a survivor of domestic violence I knew what was going to happen with the Father..he was in rehab to stay out of prison, I knew what was coming . But it was written in a non triggering way . It was a scene that had me on the edge of my seat in tears but Johnny Kavanaugh was a hero.
Shannon's brothers were just the best characters..Joey her rock her world had it the worst trying to keep the family together and afloat . His story I can't wait to read. The trauma he went through with Shannon for all of them to make it through this takes guts and a good heart.

Johnny's parents were really the best written patents I have ever read. The hearts of gold ..the both of them for all they did in this book for Shannon and her brothers. I can't wait to read more of this story ; this close knit team of Hughie , Feely and Gibsie who was such a comedian and terrific friend.

If you loved these then you will love the Boys of Tommen:

Sophie Lark Kingsmaker series
Megan Brandy : Boys of Brayshaw
LJ Shen All Saints High

It is kinda hard to rate these, I wouldn’t say I love them I wouldn’t say I hate them. This second one is better than the first for sure, more plot and less drag. I enjoy reading their story and feel you will hate this if you’ve never been through trauma or a rougher upbringing. I do feel like it does still drag on slightly more than needed tho still but it was better than the first. This one did make me cry and bring out emotion so plus for that. It is a good one to talk about in book club setting and did enjoy and will continue reading the series but i wouldn’t give it a top read for me personally. I do enjoy the culture and learning of the time and country.

I loved both Binding 13 and Keeping 13, I think they are amazing books and well worth a read. I strongly advise anyone to read the triggers first, I went in blind and wasn't prepared for the heartbreaking and how disturbing it could sometimes be.
Shannon and Johnny have to be one of my favorite book couples and this book was the perfect ending (for now 🤞🏾) to their story.

The only thing I would say is I felt the book was just too long. At times it seemed to be really slow with not much h ppening. I think the storyline could've been covered in only 2/3 of the book.
