I thoroughly enjoyed this tale, I listened to the auduobook on Scribd. It has some exciting moments, and it is also filled with several sweet moments that made me smile. Karen Witemeyer has a great style that combines adventure, charm, and humor. Highly recommend this fun and sweet story.
The narrator, Barbara McCulloh, is really great. I enjoyed listening to her tell this tale.

I enjoyed this book. The characters were great. Even the 3 kids were good developed characters. Lily's love of dime book novels was so funny - especially when Stone and Dan were so embarrassed by it. I liked the romance between Charlotte and Stone. It was slow and gradual as Charlotte learned to trust and open up.
GR Rating: 3 stars - Liked it, good, enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book so much! I found it so hard to put down that I almost finished it in an evening. It made a perfect front porch read.🥰
I quickly grew to love the characters! I really liked Charlotte from the beginning. I admired her so much as she took care of these three sweet children like they were her own. She was such a great heroine!
Stone took a little bit to grow on me but oh my goodness, he was a great hero! He was everything a good hero should be. I loved the way he intentionally pursued Charlotte, gently tearing down the walls she had built around her heart, waiting patiently for her, and showing her how he loved her with his actions. He was just a great hero and I liked him so much!
I love books where children play a big role in the story so I quickly grew to love the three children in this story.💗
In conclusion, I loved this story! It’s Karen Witemeyer so I’m not surprised.☺️ It had the perfect mix of action, suspense, and sweet romance. I really couldn’t put it down. It felt really fast-paced. I definitely recommend if you’re looking for a sweet historical romance with a lovable characters and a good amount of action to keep you turning pages!

Packed with the perfect blend of romance, emotion, faith and action, plus twinkles of humor, A Worthy Pursuit is a more than worthy read. The characters – main and supporting alike – are lifelike and skillfully developed with a depth of heart and history that feels like they are part of a series rather than merely a stand-alone novel. The message of orphans (of all ages) finding a place to belong and be loved resonates sweetly and subtly. The fast-paced action drives through the book with all the drama of Lily’s beloved dime novels but without the cheese, and the romance…. ohhhhh be still my heart, the romance!
Before I get all distracted from swooning, let’s discuss the great characters. The children will win your heart immediately, their exceptional abilities and understandable insecurities making them endearing supporting characters. “Dead-Eye Dan” and “the gnome” are nice foils-as-friends and add comic relief – plus they give Stone the opportunity to grumble which we all know we love in our heroes. (Why do we love that?) Charlotte Atherton has been burned too many times – enough that she hides behind a stiff, schoolmarm exterior instead of risking her heart again to anyone but the child prodigies in her care. And haven’t we all been there? Maybe not those exact details but the gist of it – being hurt and walling ourselves off. In Charlotte’s case, thank goodness for Stone who decided that if she was going to build a wall he was just going to have to build a door. Speaking of Stone – *dreamy sigh times 1000*. Larger than life, he is able to fight off a bobcat with his bare hands and later tenderly hold his woman with those same hands and watch the Texas sunset.
At the core of A Worthy Pursuit is a message for orphans of all ages and walks of life. No matter who else has given up on you or walked away, there will always always always be One who calls you beloved.
(I received a copy of the novel from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.)

I adore Karen Witemeyer’s novels. I started reading her books back in my early teenage years, starting with books like Head in the Clouds, A Tailor Made Bride, To Win Her Heart, and Short Straw Bride. She always manages to create these perfect characters that you insta-love in these wonderfully imagined historical settings. A Worthy Pursuit was no different–cutesy characters that you’ll adore and romance to make you swoon, mixing in some good ole’ Western action and suspense!
Charlotte “Miss Lottie” Atherton is a teacher at a school for exceptional youths. She is very attached to her students (three in particular) and even has legal guardianship of one named Lily. When the school’s headmaster unexpectedly (and suspiciously) closes the school mid-term, she knows she can’t leave Lily, Stephen, and John behind to find a new job. She decides takes them with her to a property her parents left her, but things quickly become very complicated. Lily’s unscrupulous grandfather makes up a story of how Charlotte kidnapped his granddaughter, and a “retriever” is sent after them. Stone Hammond thinks a little girl has been stolen, but he is very confused to find that Lily is perfectly content and happy with her kind, pretty “kidnapper.” He sets out to find proof of whether Charlotte’s legal guardianship of Lily is real. Can he trust her? And can she trust him when new dangerous forces head their way?
If you like historical, western, romance, or suspenseful fiction, then you should give A Worthy Pursuit a try! While vacationing in Arizona, I read this in the hot sun on a hammock and it. was. perfect. Cute, fun, inspirational, and all-around lovely, Karen Witemeyer has once again proven her historical romance writer prowess with this novel. I really enjoyed it, and now I’m about to go load the library system with holds on the rest of her books I haven’t yet read.

Probably my least favorite Witemeyer book to date (which isn't saying much considering I've thoroughly enjoyed most of her previous installments). This particular book didn't quite hook me from the start, but the romance was sweet and the characters were likable.

One of my absolute favorite books. I love stories with aspects of romance and historical fiction and on top of that it was a Christian read. I come back to this book every year and read it again and again. Every time I notice something new and all the emotions come up in full swing even when I know what happens next and how it ends.
