Pretty much the same as the other 23: there's one main criminal and a couple of lesser ones that Stephanie the Bond Enforcement Agent has to try to apprehend, Lula 'helps', Morelli is hot, Ranger is hot, Grandma is crazy (internet dating, George Hamilton, Florida swingers). This is one of the fantasy-adjacent ones where Diesel shows up, which aren't my favorites, but this one is ok. The best scene is the groundhog funeral rites. "I would have said more, but I really didn't know the deceased." And there are zombies.

I- what? I am aware that I am a dumbass for reading a book #24 in a series but also what? What was this book? I understand the fanbase is likely whoever picks this book up in a grocery store but also this was just so bad. The writing was so cringy and there was a side character in here who lowkey felt like a caricature of a person and most of her personality was the clothes she wore. The MC kept referring to the revealing clothes the other woman was wearing every single time she showed up and it was so weird and uncomfortable?? I don't care that she's wearing a short skirt and heels. Shut up already instead of mentioning it every page.

Picking this up was like tuning into a tv show you've never watched before and have no idea what is going on but then you realize the tv show is utter meaningless trash that has no point at all. I only picked this up because it was at the top of my library's romance section for available but this obviously isn't a romance novel. As for a mystery / crime novel? Ugh not good either. This book came out in 2017 and isn't even the newest in the series. How did I end up here???

The romance was all over the place, with like three different guys and it was all so weird. This entire book was weird??? Half the book was about some dumb fake zombie stuff and the other half was mentioning how they kept feeding a snake weird things.

The writing was so much of "he said. I said. Simon said. she said." and because I was listening on audiobook, it stuck out how unnatural and stiff everything was.

Yikes.

Usually the Stephanie Plum books are great quick palate-cleanser type book for me when Im in a reading slump or in between heavy books. This one didnt grab me like the others one or have me laughing out loud like usual.

The usual fun plus diesel has come back. He’s not my favorite character, but still a fun book.

Evanovich’s books use to be laugh out loud funny, but this one was only meh. Probably due to my mood but also because after over 20 other books with the same story, things are getting stale. Stephanie crashing a car isn’t brought, let’s make it 2, and throw in a portapotty for some bathroom humor.

I would only recommend this particular book to people who read quickly and have plenty of disposable time for only “okay” books.
