It was a quick and easy read, and I kept waiting to really see what the Takeaway was from this summer. But it seems like it was really just a snapshot out of this person‘s life where they felt like they really had gone through some hard things. Which I definitely understand and it’s definitely interesting, but doesn’t necessarily need to be made into a book if that makes sense. It didn’t seem to have this ending that really highlighted what the purpose was for making this a book but it was very interesting and I enjoyed following along with the story.

well… being an adolescent is definitely tough. this was a bit too bleak in my opinion, though. the main character is going through a lot, including general teenage angst, but she just constantly rains anger and hate on the world and people around her and that’s.. pretty much the whole book :/

The story of two friends at their summer cottages, swimming, watching scary movies, and visiting the local corner store for their rentals. Also dealing with the family issues that arise. A quick read. Not my favorite, but might be to someone looking for a quick 'sad' vacation summery realistic fiction read.

A really gorgeous, quiet story about an adolescent summer.
